By Strength and Power Hall of Fame

Personal history:

I was born in 1944, and grew up in Allen Park, Michigan. I am a former trucking company owner and retired pastor. I began lifting weights in 1959, at the age of 14, and did one Olympic lifting competition in 1969. In 1989, at 44 years of age, I began competing in USA Powerlifting (ADFPA), and did my last competition in 2025.

What led you to your sport:

Family stories about the great strength of my grandfather, and a Readers Digest article about the great American Olympic lifter Tommy Kono, inspired me to begin lifting.

Tell us about your achievements in your sport (using bullet form).
