Personal history:

Jenny Clouse is a wife, mother, and world champion Olympic weightlifter who has dedicated her life to family, faith, and fitness. Growing up Jenny was a dancer, she was a pom-line member in high school as well as at Arizona State University. Married to her spouse Doug for 30 years, Jenny has raised a family while building a career in fitness and coaching. As her children grew, she looked for ways to challenge herself and set an example of resilience and discipline. That path led her to Olympic weightlifting, where her dedication quickly translated into success on the national and international stage.

What led you to your sport:

Starting out in CrossFit in 2012, Jenny quickly realized that weightlifting was her biggest area of weakness. Determined to improve, she enrolled in a class at her local community college taught by Coach Joe Micela. His passion for the sport of Olympic weightlifting was contagious, and Jenny was immediately drawn in. Not long after, Coach Joe invited her to train at his gym—a decision that forever changed the course of her life. Under his guidance, Jenny discovered both her natural talent and her love for the sport. What began as a way to get stronger soon grew into a competitive career that has taken her to the highest levels of Masters weightlifting. More than a decade later, Jenny continues to train under Coach Joe, crediting his mentorship and belief in her as a foundation of her success.

Accomplishments:

Beyond the platform, Jenny’s greatest accomplishment is her family. She and her husband Doug have raised four children—Taylor, Jared, Luke, and Weston—each of whom has grown into their own unique path. Taylor is married to Dallan, and together they have a daughter, Joie. Luke is married to Brooklyn, and they are expecting a baby boy, Braxton, in October 2025. Watching her children step into new chapters of life and welcoming the joy of grandchildren has been one of Jenny’s most meaningful roles. Just as she has pursued strength and perseverance in her athletic career, Jenny has poured that same dedication into motherhood—teaching her children the values of faith, resilience, and hard work. For Jenny, family remains the foundation of everything she does, from competing at the highest levels to coaching individuals to discover their own strength.

Other activities:

In addition to competing, Jenny is also a USA Weightlifting National Referee and remains deeply involved in the sport beyond her own training. She loves giving back to the weightlifting community by coaching athletes and volunteering at both local and national meets. Whether she’s mentoring new lifters, officiating on the platform, or supporting events, Jenny is committed to helping the sport grow and ensuring others have the same opportunities that shaped her own journey.
