George Howard Turbyfill

George is typically referred to as Howard. Howard was born in Palestine, Texas, and made the 1932 Olympic Team while living in Corona, California*. Howard was 19 years old and working as a blacksmith at that time. Howard’s competitive career is difficult to locate, and further research is needed. Team tryouts were held in Philadelphia, Detroit, and Los Angeles, so the 1932 Senior Nationals were not used to select the Olympic Team. However, Howard did finish 6^th in the heavyweight class at the 1932 Olympics. I assume Howard stopped lifting after 1932.
