Henry l. Duey
5/1/1908-2/13/1993
1932 Olympic Team
Henry was born in Chicago but spent most of his life in Detroit, Michigan, as a tool and die maker for Ford and Republican Tool and Die. He was also a part-time farmer. Henry’s competition record is difficult to locate. I assume he probably lifted for the Michigan Alkali Club, as did Olympic Team member Stanley Kratkowski, also from Detroit. However, Henry did win the bronze medal in the 181lb class at the 1932 Olympics. Henry and Tony Terlazzo’s bronze medals were the first medals won by Americans in the modern or three-lift era.
