A brief personal history:
A track athlete and marathon runner in high school. Joined the Air Force in 1982 where I first started playing around with weight lifting. Started lifting more seriously in the 90's, and turned to competitive Powerlifting around 2000.
What led you to your sport:
Around 1999 I was training at a YMCA and the fitness manager, Phillip Battle, was also the state chair for USA Powerlifting. Phillip first exposed me to powerlifting and I was instantly drawn to the sport. The nature of training and competition is very satisfying for me and my drive to continue is as strong now as when I started 22 years ago.

Activities within the sport:
Frequently help setting up and tearing down for meets, working as platform manager, and supporting other lifters at their comps. I'm always willing to help youth and beginning lifters with training questions etc... as a way to "give back" to the sport as so many people have helped me in the past.
