By Strength and Power Hall of Fame

A brief personal history:
Born and raised in Council Bluffs, IA. I entered the Law Enforcement profession early in my 20s, where I truly excelled and found a nitch. I continued to further my training, education, and experience until I was unfortunately injured while on duty. I received a moderate brain injury, a broken neck at C5 and loss of vision in my right eye. Several surgeries followed, resulting in my being forced to retire from my job, a 4 tier cervical fusions with a titanium cage placed on site, and years of physical, vestibular, and speech therapy. I continued to work hard and never lost sight of a potential return to powerlifting, even if it was at a smaller stage. I did claw my way back into our sport and have no regrets about what took place, resulting in my injuries. I believe these setbacks made me who I am today. I am an able competitor in a sport I am quite passionate about.

What led you to your sport:
I was a successful Collegiate wrestler who had a chronic right shoulder injury. Team Dr and physical therapists introduced weight training to better stabilize the shoulder. I do powerlifting; it is an important part of my identity.
