Joseph “Joe” Pitman Jr.
8/21/1924-6/1/2018
Joe was born in New Hampshire and moved to Pennsylvania in 1935. Joe started lifting at 14 and would become an Olympian, World Champion, 2X Pan American Champion, and a 10X Senior National Champion. Joe served in WW2 and later became a teacher and longtime school administrator. Joe lifted for the York Barbell Team for most of his lifting career. Joe is a member of the US Weightlifting Hall of Fame.
