BIO

 

Mike started lifting at 17 in Ohio. He trained at the Duncan Y and later Sayre Park both in Chicago. Mike was self-coached during most of his long career. Mike lifted in 21 consecutive Senior Nationals winning 8 of them. He is a 2 time Olympian (1972 & 1980) and a Pan American Games Gold Medalist. Mike set at least 10 National Records and was twice a member of the Strength and Health Team of the Decade. Mike was inducted into the Weightlifting Hall of Fame in 1973. Mike competed from 1961-1989. Mike continues to coach lifters in Montana.
