What lead you to your sport:
I am Kim (RYMAN) Price and I have now lifted for 38 years. When I started it was the ADFPA then the USAPL/IPF as well. In the 1980's the women's category did not even count if you were on a team so I was forced to cross -over into the men's category to be able to help out my power team. We have come so far since then but I would not trade one experience in my journey as a powerlifter. I was a member of "THE GYM" power team for many, many years. I lifted in competitions that used a round system and some meets my deadlift session started as late as 9:00/10:00 p.m. Meets back in the day had packed weight classes with less than awesome suits but some super tough powerlifters. Once again equipment also has come so far. I mentioned my power team which was born out of a non-profit gym run by none other than my coach of 38 years Roy Marshall. This gym is still the gym I lift at and yes still non-profit. Now my husband Randy Price and I run this gym (Roy and Wife Michelle still actively involved as well) and with the help of God Almighty we host power-meets there, have a grocery store in the lobby of the facility to feed our local/homeless in our community and lastly but not least on Sunday's it is our church home. I say we are rich beyond measure with such a gym as blessings such as this are priceless. My own journey with the gym has been one that throughout my lifting career I have always been active in whatever function or event was happening as well as years of cleaning and helping to keep it looking good. No words could EVER express what my lifting has done for me personally. In my freshman year of high school I developed a severe eating disorder that I struggled with for so many years when I started lifting at the gym my life to a turn from a downward spiral to an uphill climb. I weighed 67 lbs. my lightest and nearly took my life. God had a different plan and along the way maybe 18 years in wrote down I would some day like to represent the World Team and qualify for a World Event. Blessed and humbled more than I can express
with 8 IPF World Master's Competition's under my belt I become teary-eyed and speechless when I sit back and ponder how far I have come. God's grace and a decision to never give up on myself or God again I am without words to describe what my gym and my lifting has meant to me. I plan to continue as long as my physical body allows me. I owe so much to all who have supported me over the journey . . . my number one fan my hubby, my coach of 38 years, my family and best friends and lastly BUT NOT LEAST my GOD and SAVIOR. I am humbled every day by his love and favor on my life.

Love poetry and wrote a lot growing up and in my early 20's got two poems published
Love animals and have always helped to find/rescue one in need and locally support our
Furry Friend Rescue in our hometown.
In our non-profit gym we help our homeless with food from our grocery store but
sometimes with temporary shelter and other needs they have.

Activities within the sport:
Throughout my lifting career I have lifted at demos for youth groups sharing my story and reaching out to our youth to know there is always hope as God already believes in you. I feel we need to do more to let our children know how precious their lives are.
I have coached over my lifting career, judged in state meets in the early years and annually at our gym in Woodstock, VA we hold 3 meets per year. John Shifflett is the meet director/chairman and we truly love hosting.
My lifting has changed my life forever and my greatest hope is that the life-changing lessons from the discipline and dedication it takes to become an elite athlete will spill over to others as I continue my journey in life and share my story. Without my savior none of it would have been possible. I am blessed by ALL the wonderful people who have supported and helped my throughout my 38 years of lifting. God Bless you all.
