Eric LeBlanc New York Strength and Power HoF inductee 2018

By Strength and Power Hall of Fame

The New York State Strength and Power Hall of Fame proudly recognizes Eric LeBlanc as a member of its 2018 induction class.

Known throughout the strength community for his remarkable accomplishments as a drug-free powerlifter, Eric has set numerous state, national, and world records. He also gained widespread attention for his impressive car-lifting exhibitions, demonstrating extraordinary strength and determination. Yet, when asked how he would like to be remembered, Eric points not to records or feats of strength, but to perseverance, faith, and the ability to overcome adversity.

Eric’s fascination with strength began at a young age. Inspired by legendary champions such as Vasily Alexeev and Paul Anderson, he dreamed of developing exceptional strength himself. That dream began to take shape when powerlifter Bob Collins offered to train him, launching a journey that would eventually lead to multiple Hall of Fame inductions.

For Eric, strength was never simply about lifting weights—it was about helping others, enduring hardship, and developing character.

Throughout his life, Eric encountered obstacles both inside and outside the gym. He learned that adversity, when embraced, can become a powerful force for growth. One of his most cherished memories occurred at a powerlifting competition in Connecticut, where he bench pressed 370 pounds. It was the only competition his mother was ever able to attend because of her illness. Despite her physical limitations, she captured a photograph of Eric celebrating the accomplishment with a leap into the air—a moment he continues to treasure.

The strength community also provided something equally valuable: acceptance. Eric often reflects on how powerlifting was one of the first environments where he felt truly judged by performance, character, and effort rather than anything else. The culture of strength sports has long been built on mutual respect, camaraderie, and fair play, values that continue to inspire him today.

Beyond competition, Eric has dedicated himself to promoting and preserving the sport. He is an inductee into the WNPF Powerlifting Hall of Fame and is the founder of iPowerLift.net, a website that has served athletes and strength enthusiasts around the world.

More than his records, championships, or exhibitions, Eric hopes his legacy will be defined by resilience. His story demonstrates that true strength is not measured solely by the weight on a barbell, but by one’s ability to rise above challenges, serve others, and continue moving forward despite adversity.

Eric gives thanks to God for the strength he has been blessed with and remains grateful to the powerlifting and strength communities for their friendship, support, and fellowship throughout his journey.
